The Upholstery
Semi-aniline leather in a handsome Havana color is used on the Chelsea collection pieces. Aniline means that the leather is colored through and through and has a light protective coat of polyurethane on the surface. This offers excellent resilience against wear and tear. Common household stains can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. The variances of light and dark tones throughout the leather are a natural result. This sauvage or cloudy effect is very unique and characteristic of high-quality leather. There is a subtle, blackish tint to this brown leather to give it a slightly rustic look.
Frame, Springs and Cushions
Beech and Ash woods provide the frame for this collection. They are selected at source and seasoned for at least two years to ensure long-term durability. All corners and load bearing areas are additionally secured with heavy-duty corner blocks for added strength. Upon frame construction, the entire thing is encased in one-inch foam so all you feel is softness. Heavy-duty nine-gauge sinuous springs are placed two-inches apart and attached to the frame using heavy-duty clips. Five steel springs per seat ensure the strength, comfort and durability of the seat cushions. Heavy-duty, European elastic webbing supports the back cushions. This material holds 720 lbs. per square inch. Seat cushions feature polyurethane foam cores with a high quality Dacron topper on the surface for comfort. Back cushions are composed of Dacron fiber which is blown in to vertically and horizontally channeled bags to ensure the proper amount is blown the same each time.
