Sleeper Loveseat

Van Gogh Designs Houston Loveseat Sofabed

While it's great to finally be out on your own in a brand new city, your budget may have found you in a bit of a size crunch. How do you fit a full-sized couch (let alone a bed) into a studio apartment the size of a utility closet? Your best bet takes the form of a sleeper loveseat. These couches are small and can hide a sizeable bed, making them the perfect piece of furniture for rooms that are lacking in space.

There are several types of sleeper loveseats. Many of the less expensive ($300 to $600) loveseats fold open to lie directly on the floor. These are great sleepers for rooms that also have some restrictions on how high a piece of furniture can sit. The key to these loveseats is cushion and mattress thickness. Since it will lie directly on the floor, a sleeper loveseat with a thin cushion/mattress will most likely prove highly uncomfortable. Luckily for the consumer, many of these designs are listed as 'oversized,' meaning an over-thick and very comfortable mattress.

The more expensive ($700 to upwards of $1500) offer a more intricate support system. Instead of folding out to rest against the floor, there is usually some sort of frame that firmly supports the mattress. Many of these types of sleeper loveseats sport a more intricate spring mattress instead of a foam one, making them slightly more durable than their counterparts.

And regardless of price, the one key term you should be sure to look for is "easy-opening mechanism." When you're dead tired, the last thing you want to do is fight to open the sleeper loveseat. Ease is the way to go.
