Instead of folding out to rest against the floor, there is usually some sort of frame that firmly supports the mattress. Many of these types of sleeper loveseats sport a more intricate spring mattress instead of a foam one, making them slightly more durable than their counterparts.
And regardless of price, the one key term you should be sure to look for is "easy-opening mechanism." When you're dead tired, the last thing you want to do is fight to open the sleeper loveseat. Ease is the way to go.
